Patriot's Day 2025 in Massachusetts included the running of the Boston Marathon. I watched from a spot about 5 miles from the start of the 26.2 mile race. The runners are released from the starting line in Hopkinton in various groups. The elite men and elite women go past the spectators before the larger waves of general participants. The elite runners get to wear name tags with their names, rather than numbers.

The first two photos below show the front running elite men and women from my vantage point. Often the eventual race winner will be part of these front runners. Can you guess who among these runners will win the men's and women's Boston Marathon? (Answer below)

Drumroll please....

and the winners were John Korir and Sharon Lokedi, both of Kenya.
Apparently Mr. Korir had some kind of mishap with this bib early in the race, as it is not visible.
Both these runners are *near* but not *at* the front of their respective packs, seen roughly in the center of each of my two photos above.
